"Because only slow food can teach us the things that really matter — care, beauty, concentration, discernment, sensuality, all the best that humans are capable of, but only if we take the time to think about what we're eating."

Elysium Woodworks on Etsy makes these elegant custom cutting boards for those who know that the kitchen is the real heart of any home. Especially if you consider cooking to be a series of chemical reactions (it is), you'll get a kick out of the Periodic Table of Elements cutting board, or the Bacon cutting board, which provides both a statement of your devotion to bacon, and a little scientific knowledge.

Citrus Cake with Lemon Curd Filling and Orange Lemon Icing from Apollinas
It may still feel like winter outside, but it can feel like spring in your tummy. Here are some beautiful and healthy Spring recipes to get you started on a seasonal kick.

No kitchen is perfect. It's either too small, the cupboards too low down, the cabinets too wonky, the window too high up or the table too bulky. Not to mention the pots and pans always swap places, the floor is never clean and the dishes pile up, because your boyfriend is untrainable. Do you agree with me? Then we're both wrong. Because the Valcucine Logica Kitchen fixes every problem before there even is one. Every appliance has a place, every activity has a workstation. There are iPad chargers, built-in scales and taps by the stove. If you have a massive amount of land in your name and a thirst to home cook, check in with Valcucine.

Quinoa and Arugula Pesto Salad from Oui, Chef
Quinoa is a type of healthy seed which is also considered a whole grain. It's full of protein and free from gluten and cholesterol. You can stop looking down on it, red meat lovers. Quinoa is no longer a mystery gruel or the fuel of free-lovin' hippies. Cook a cup of Quinoa in vegetable stock to use as an easy replacement for pasta or rice. Oh, and let's settle something once and for all: it's pronounced like kee-noa.
